We have just completed shipping all pledges!! YAY!!

There is however a couple of stragglers who have not updated their address who we weren't able to ship to, so if that's you please get back to us!

For those whose cards have failed to be updated/charged, we will assume your pledge has been dropped. We will cancel your pledge tomorrow and your held items will be released for public sale, unless told otherwise. This will be your last chance to receive your pledge and our campaign items, so please let us know or update your information as soon as possible! 

THANK YOU so much to everyone for your patience as we shipped 150 packages over the past few weeks!! We're so excited for everyone to receive their goods, and when you do it would be amazing if you could tag us in a photo on IG @grrrlspells! We're hoping to make a compilation post of everyone in their vests and accessories if possible. 💖

We have limited quantities leftover of the vest and accessories that were part of this campaign, and we'll finally be releasing them for public sale some time tomorrow on our store grrrlspells.com! So if you have friends who have been wanting to grab something but missed out on our Kickstarter campaign, please let them know that they will be able to get them tomorrow! Once they are gone they will no longer be restocked again, so this will be the last chance.

We're not sure of the specific drop time yet, but we'll be sending out an email to our newsletter subscribers to notify them first as soon as they're released. Please consider subscribing and following us on Instagram to keep in touch with us and support us! 

We will also be pausing U.S. shipping on our store on August 19th due to the new tariffs that will take place on August 29th. This could be your last chance to order from us for awhile.

It has been truly one hell of a ride for the past couple of years. What seemed like a great opportunity to partner with Target for their Pride collection, turned into a rollercoaster of disappointment and mess thrown our way. We have since tried to make the best of it in every way we could, from sending out orders from a storage unit, to launching the "Trans Gift Box Gifting Program", giving away shirts to trans orgs and at Pride, and thanks to the amazing support of the queer community we were able to launch our very first Kickstarter campaign to redo what should have been our Pride collection in our terms, and get it fully funded!  

We have learned a lot from running this campaign, and we definitely hope to create more in the future, world permitting! Thank you truly for supporting a queer, trans & BIPOC owned small business especially during these rough times lately, it means the world to us to be able to keep going despite the wild amount of obstacles that we have faced recently.

Canadian pledges have shipped!

Hello folks! All Canadian based pledges have been shipped today, with the exception of a couple PO Box addresses that will be shipped next week!

USA and international pledges will also start shipping next week and it will probably take 2 weeks to get through everyone. We'll post another update once all pledges have been shipped.

Final Reminder

Hello folks! Thank you so much to everyone who has confirmed your addresses! We still have a few stragglers who have either 1) Not answered the address survey or 2) Haven't updated your card that was declined. We will be unable to ship your order without this information, so please update your information through the BackerKit survey as soon as possible. 

If anyone else needs to make any last minute changes to their address, please let us know. This will be your last chance as we will officially start shipping NEXT WEEK! 

As much as we would like to keep things in one place (BackerKit) unfortunately they don't offer any postage solutions to Canadian creators, so we will be importing all information into our Shopify store and fulfilling orders through there. You will receive a Shopify email with tracking information once it has been shipped.

VESTS HAVE ARRIVED! Happy Pride! 🌈

Hello folks! We hope everyone had a great Pride month and Happy Pride to those who are still celebrating in the coming months! The vests including all accessories have completed production and are finally in our hands! 

We'll have way better pictures of everything soon, but for now here's a glimpse into the other items that have been completed! 

NEXT STEPS!

Now that we're getting ready to ship, we are going to start locking addresses and charging cards for those who purchased add-ons through BackerKit in one week, on July 10th. You will have until July 10th to make any further changes to your address in case you have recently moved to a new place. You can update your address through the same BackerKit survey that was sent in the past to collect your address. There will be a Final Notice sent 48 hours before we lock the address as a final reminder. 

We will start shipping out pledges in mid-July, and it will probably take us a month to get through everyone. We'll start with Canadian pledges first, then USA, then international! If you are moving anytime between now and September and don't have your new address yet, let us know as soon as possible and we could hold on to your pledge until you have settled in to your new place before we ship it, or you could also use a friends' address instead. 
 

TARIFF UPDATES FOR USA FOLKS

In our previous update, we offered to cover the tariff costs as well as giving folks the option to pay for them if they wanted to help alleviate things. In the past month, we've since discovered a loophole that allows us to ship items manufactured in China to the US, tariff-free (at least for now) by using Canada Post instead of our usual carrier as they haven't been collecting tariffs, at least not consistently. There is still a risk of them charging you tariff fees upon delivery at any moment if they suddenly feel like it. We've been shipping our regular store orders through this method for the past month and thankfully no one has reported being charged yet, so we'll continue to ship this way and hope for the best!

If anyone happens to fall unlucky and get charged tariff fees upon delivery of their items, we will reimburse the tariff fees if you send us a proof of payment and invoice for them. 

There is potentially yet another tariff change happening on July 9th. We're not sure if this will affect us yet but we'll post another update if anything changes!

A big update! + Info on tariffs

Hey folks! We've got some updates!

The first big thing we would like to address are the latest tariff news for US backers. Honestly, each time we wanted to post an update about tariffs, the news and numbers would change again days later. It has been a rough and confusing time full of whiplash. Secondly, we've received some of the items! Please skip ahead to the reward updates at the bottom if you're not from the US. 

TARIFF FEES
(You can skip this whole section if you're not from the US)
As of May 14 the 145% tariff fee on products manufactured in China being shipped to the US has been temporarily reduced to 30% for the next 90 days, but the de minimis exemption for orders under $800 sadly still remains removed. The tariff fee unfortunately affects the majority of the rewards in our Kickstarter campaign as most of them are manufactured in China, even though we will be shipping everything from Canada. This means our US backers will receive a 30% tariff fee upon delivery of their packages. 

We know it's extremely frustrating to support a project before this tariff nonsense came into place and have to now pay increased fees on your packages, so we are going to make the tariff fees optional. We will be shipping every US-bound package through DDP (Delivery Duties Paid), which means we will pay for the 30% tariff fee in advance so that you do not have to pay your postal carrier/customs when it arrives at your location. For those who can afford to pay the tariff fees, we will give you the option to pay for them most likely through BackerKit. For those who can't, we will eat the tariff costs. 

As a small business, we honestly don't have the margins to be absorbing all of the tariff fees as we aren't making a lot of profit from this Kickstarter campaign. The majority of the funds have gone into manufacturing costs, and the rest will be for shipping and taxes. However we also don't want to force anyone to pay these tariff fees especially when it wasn't something that was expected to happen when the campaign was live. So as an in-between, we're giving folks the option to pay for the tariff fees if they can which would support us greatly by not having to absorb the costs of everything. But if you can't, that is totally understandable. We want to ensure every single backer still receives their rewards regardless of what happens. 

We aren't starting fulfillment until July or mid/late June earliest, and the tariffs could still change at any moment as they have changed many times over the past few months. We will be posting another update once we're closer to being ready to ship with what the confirmed tariff fees will be by then. Thank you so so much for your patience and understanding during these ridiculous times! 

REWARD UPDATES
Things have started arriving from our manufacturers and we're so excited! 

Pins and patches are in! We had to simplify the design of the StarGayzing patch a little so that it would translate better, but we love how everything turned out and hope you will too! The pins and patches will be packaged in custom backing cards that we're still working on! 

We also received samples of our embroidered Trans Futures beanies awhile back. Trans Futures and Queer Futures beanies are currently still in production. 

We also got word that the vests are nearly done, it might be 2-3 weeks till they arrive in our hands. We'll post another update once we have everything including updates on shipping, add-ons, and tariffs. For those who purchased add-ons after the campaign through BackerKit, we will give a heads up about a couple of weeks before we're ready ship that your cards will be charged soon.
